MediaMash at Ideastap
IdeasTap HQ has proudly become home to MediaMash, a monthly photography evening organised by London photo-film collective FireFly. We find out what it’s all about…
A few weeks ago, 20-odd budding photographers headed down to IdeasTap Towers for MediaMash Meet Up, the first of a new monthly event that aims to encourage photographers of all levels and from all backgrounds to share and discuss their work.
FireFly, a London-based community of photographers that specialises in exploring social issues and has peer support at its heart, are behind the nights. FireFly memberRajan Zaveri explains, “MediaMash provides a relaxed setting for photographers to get feedback. It’s a chance to lay out your prints and flick through your laptop and, in small groups, get peer-to-peer support on your work.”

href=”http://www.ideastap.com/ideasmag/all-articles/IdeasTap-photographic-award-shortlist-announced”> IdeasTap Photographic Award, explains that the last event was a storming success. “The first event went very well, with photographers sharing everything from large format prints to first attempts at video work,” she says.
“I want to say how delighted I am to have found such an enthusiastic group of photographers with whom I can talk about ideas, techniques and events,” adds photographer and writer Julien Frentzel, who joined in with the first session last month. So whether you’re just getting to grips with your camera or you’re a dab hand with mixed media, MediaMash offers the perfect opportunity to get honest advice and gain a valuable insight into the way different photographers work.
What’s more, there’ll be sangria and nibbles on offer – not to mention the enticing option of bringing along your own bottle – so you can expect an informal atmosphere in which to pick up some new skills and perhaps some new friends too.
