
Charley Murrell was born in Devon but graduated from Newport University with a BA in Documentary Photography. Charley began using photography to explore social and cultural issues, interests and concerns. Her projects have been a mixture of reportage, set-up environmental portraits, studio portraits and studio still life shoots. She has since evolved her photography to encompass other mediums, such as sound and video creating multimedia work. Charley’s photography has won at the Royal Photographic Society International Print Competition two years in a row, Guardian Student Media Awards and has been shortlisted for Magnum’s Ideas Tap Photography Competition. Her work has been exhibited in Foto8 and Candid Arts in London and a collective exhibition in Jacobs Market in Cardiff.
